Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Surveying Project Manager to lead and manage a growing land surveying division. This role is responsible for overseeing survey projects from planning through completion, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery while maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate will possess extensive land surveying experience, strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to adopting innovative surveying technologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee multiple surveying projects, ensuring schedules, budgets, and quality standards are achieved.
Lead the preparation and review of topographic surveys, boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, right-of-way plats, and engineering survey documents.
Review, sign, seal, and certify survey documents in accordance with applicable regulations and professional standards.
Coordinate project activities with clients, engineers, contractors, government agencies, and internal project teams.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training to survey staff and field crews.
Support field operations as needed to ensure project deadlines and client expectations are met.
Perform survey calculations, data analysis, and quality control reviews.
Utilize modern surveying technologies and equipment while driving continuous process improvements.
Prepare and deliver as-built survey data in GIS-compatible formats.
Assist in business development efforts, client management, and the continued growth of the surveying department.
Ensure compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and industry regulations.
Qualifications
Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) registration in the State of Indiana required.
Minimum of 5 years of professional land surveying experience.
Proven experience managing survey projects and leading technical teams.
Strong knowledge of boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, topographic surveys, and right-of-way plats.
Proficiency with AutoCAD required; experience with Micro Station is acceptable with willingness to transition to AutoCAD.
Experience working with GIS platforms and preparing GIS-compatible survey deliverables.
Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and related surveying software applications.
Commitment to continuous learning and adapting to emerging surveying technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing survey teams and mentoring junior staff.
Business development and client management experience.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal surveying regulations and standards.
