Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Geotechnical Project Engineer/Manager to join its collaborative team in Indianapolis, IN. This role will provide geotechnical engineering expertise through analysis and design, support project management, supervise staff engineers, and interact with clients. The position offers cross‑functional partnership on both small‑scale and large‑scale geotechnical projects.
Job Responsibilities- Perform complex analyses and structural design of pile elements and underpinning systems, and conduct special engineering inspections.
- Prepare technical documents, including proposals, reports, construction documents, and related correspondence for managed projects.
- Supervise field investigations, conventional earthwork, and foundation construction activities.
- Oversee multiple projects and tasks within specified budgets, schedules, and deadlines; develop budgets and service plans, prepare progress reports, draft change orders, invoices, and billings.
- Perform additional duties as requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering;
Master’s degree with Geotechnical emphasis preferred. - Professional Engineer licensure.
- 5+ years of related Geotechnical experience.
- 3+ years of field experience with geotechnical investigations and construction observation, including mass grading, deep foundations, subgrade for footings, ground improvement, excavation support, tieback installation, and testing.
- Proven experience preparing technical reports, specifications, construction plans, geotechnical recommendations, proposals, and coordinating projects; managing client interactions, billings, and staff mentoring.
- Strong understanding of codes and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of quantitative/technical analyses and related software.
- Entrepreneurial and professional demeanor with strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to seek new business opportunities and develop additional clients while maintaining project workload.
- Skill in coaching and assisting staff management.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and social skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits.
