Floodplain Inspector - Indianapolis Area, IN JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Responsible for conducting Floodplain inspection and audits from project inception through completion for compliance with the FEMA Floodplain regulations, as well as other Local Ordinances, State Statutes and Federal Regulations
- Assembling, analyzing, and interpreting FEMA regulations, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), Elevation Certificates, Flood Resistant Design and Construction (ASCE-24) regulations and local and county ordinances.
- Consults and regularly interacts with architects, engineers, homeowners, contractors and/or developers and associated staff members regarding projects.
- Assess, reviews, and interprets construction plans; in addition to monitoring the impact of change orders that may affect the finish floor elevation requirements.
- Providing floodplain interpretation of codes in the field.
- Manages and maintains long‑term records.
- Assess, reviews and interprets construction plans in electronic format; monitors the impact of change orders that may affect the finish floor elevation requirements.
- Participates in Community Assistance Visit (CAV) assist in the CRS program. Retains certification through mandatory continuing education programs.
- Performs related work as required.
- Extensive knowledge National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), FEMA regulations, Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), Community Rating System (CRS), building codes and current construction procedures/technology.
- Must possess the ability to positively interact with other staff members, the public, contractors, governmental agencies and other clientele.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Good time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.
- Ability to prepare written plan review correspondence and update information into company software programs.
- Candidate must be able to handle multiple projects in a fast‑paced atmosphere.
- Experience with FEMA regulations, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM), Elevation Certificates
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification is a plus.
- Retains certification through mandatory continuing education programs.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
