Manufacturing Services Systems Engineer – Onsite 9/80 – Indianapolis, IN

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support strategy development and execution within your area of specialism, acting as a thought leader.
  • Define capability projects by capturing requirements, creating proposals, securing stakeholder approval, acquiring funding and aligning partner support.
  • Lead the resolution of new and emerging technical, compliance and business problems using analytical processes and professional judgement.
  • Proactively access internal and external networks of specialists to further knowledge of the subject; support implementation of strategic collaborative relationships.
  • Support the definition of skill and professional knowledge within your area, identify, coordinate and deliver training; mentor other specialists.
  • Ensure appropriate policies, standards and best practices are defined, shared and adopted.
  • Lead knowledge sharing and best practice representation, providing concise justification for decisions and capturing information in reports and systems.
  • Analyze equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach to maintenance; collect, organise, and analyse KPI data for the Manufacturing Services Department.
  • Process work orders and pull reports from the Computerised Maintenance Management System.
  • Provide technical assistance relating to machine or process failure to skilled trades and other support functions; coordinate with OEM and machine tool specialists as needed.
  • Support other business units and manufacturing suppliers when requested.
  • Establish root causes of failures and implement processes to reduce occurrences, improving asset availability and mean time between failure.
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise electrical installation and maintenance strategy; coordinate systems activities with Production staff, communicating with Production Leaders, Team Leaders, and Operators.
  • Technically lead moderately sized projects relating to CNC machine tools and non‑conventional machining – liaise with machine tool manufacturers, agents and control suppliers to ensure timely, quality delivery within budget.
  • Assist specification, factory acceptance protocol, installation and commissioning of new or replacement equipment, ensuring the equipment meets required performance specifications.
  • Contribute to the technical definition of control systems equipment and peripherals in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience, or
  • JD/PhD (any degree).
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • High understanding of electrical, electronic systems, computer numerical control systems and mechanical/hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of local and regional HSE standards and regulations.
  • Experience with automation engineering and troubleshooting of those systems.
  • Ability to design and recommend new process improvements.
  • Experience in establishing root causes of failures and reducing recurrence.
  • Proficiency in using the Computerised Maintenance Management System and performance data analysis.
