Overview
Insight Global is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the maintenance team at their Fort Wayne, IN facility. This role provides technical leadership and hands-on support for electrical design, automation programming, and maintenance system development. The engineer will act as the in-area expert for escalated issues, focusing on improving machine reliability and supporting plant electricians through training and troubleshooting. This position is critical to minimizing downtime and enhancing preventative maintenance practices.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Key Responsibilities- Provide training and technical support to maintenance wage electricians
- Troubleshoot and resolve escalated electrical and automation issues
- Identify and implement machine reliability improvements
- Aid in developing and refining maintenance systems and best practices
- Support production during machine downtime and plant shutdowns
- Participate in machine integration, start-up, and commissioning
- Act as a technical liaison within the production shop
- Collaborate with internal teams and manage external contractors as needed
- Provide call-in support and work during scheduled shutdowns (including weekends/holidays, excluding July 4th and Christmas Day)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in industrial automation and electrical systems (or less experience with a 4-year degree)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Allen Bradley drives, including PF7000 60V
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and MCC panel design
- Familiarity with Rockwell PLC programming (Ladder Logic, Structured Text, GRAFCET)
- Comfortable working with large industrial equipment
- Ability to train and support maintenance teams effectively
- No visa sponsorship available; must be eligible for full-time hire
- Experience with Siemens PLCs and automation systems
- Familiarity with Ethernet-based systems (transitioned from Data Highway and Control Net)
- Experience with machine building and troubleshooting
- Exposure to vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Adept, Bytewise, Gocator)
- Experience with robotic systems (Fanuc, ABB)
- Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
