Position Overview
Quality Engineer, Electronics – Ensures external suppliers in Mexico meet company quality standards and supports continuous improvements across the manufacturing process.
Responsibilities- Support investigations of supplier quality problems and implement effective resolutions.
- Lead the completion of the 8D process including containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Review and audit supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems; present audit results.
- Assist in advanced quality planning with selected suppliers.
- Validate supplier product design and manufacturing processes using automotive industry standards.
- Implement and monitor supplier part conformance to design specifications.
- Conduct workshops at supplier locations, provide technical assistance in developing quality systems.
- Maintain accurate and timely records in systems such as Supplier Quality Notifications (SQN), SAP ERP, and PPAP.
- Manage quality across multiple suppliers of complex electronic assemblies; participate in development and manufacture.
- Apply knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes and designs to diagnose problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineers internally and at suppliers on product design and process issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Statistical quality control techniques (Pareto, control charts, capability, histogram).
- Experience with electronics design, manufacturing, and assembly—including PCB design, simulation, sourcing, assembly, testing, embedded controls.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, 5S, and manufacturing operational excellence.
- Expertise in conducting audits and driving supplier development initiatives.
- Knowledge of Purchasing and Global Supply Chain concepts, strategic material planning.
- Problem‑solving skills using 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, Six Sigma.
- Strong analytical ability for complex problem resolution.
- Excellent organization, planning, documentation, and meeting coordination.
- Spanish language fluency for communication with Mexican suppliers.
- Less than 10% travel to Mexico required.
- Current U.S. authorization without employer sponsorship.
