Job OverviewThe Supplier Engineered Equipment (SEE) Design Engineer will develop control system hardware requirements and guide approved suppliers through the detailed design process to ensure that delivered hardware meets all technical and program requirements. The role spans the project lifecycle from requirements definition, concept development, detail component design, validation, and verification testing through final production release, interfacing with both external suppliers and internal engine program teams.
Responsibilities- Develop controls hardware components, including oversight of mechanical design and analysis, and guide the design through multiple gated design reviews.
- Oversee validation testing performed by contracted suppliers of Controls Units.
- Coordinate effort between design, purchasing, manufacturing engineering teams and Controls Hardware suppliers to ensure program needs are met.
- Identify and manage project risks (technical, cost, supply chain, schedule) in accordance with the risk management plan.
- Engage in technical, manufacturing and supply chain issues and opportunities to enable quick decision making.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 1+ years of experience in mechanical design or control systems, or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or JD/PhD.
- U.S. citizenship.
Preferred Requirements:
- Desire to successfully lead in a team environment, establishing collaborative relationships with coworkers.
- Experience with control systems hardware design.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), change management, and risk management processes.
- Experience with Root Cause Analysis and other problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of RTCA/DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental testing standards.
- Current (or ability to obtain/maintain) U.S. DOD Secret or Top-Secret security Clearance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
