Job Summary
Mechanical Enclosure Design Engineer – Full‑time – Indianapolis, IN or West Lafayette, IN. The role involves designing electronic enclosures for aero gas turbine engines, ensuring they meet project requirements from concept through qualification test. The engineer supports local Rolls‑Royce Corporation and global engine programs and may be involved at any project stage, including brief development, design, prototype testing, and production implementation.
Responsibilities- Perform component trade studies for new and existing hardware.
- Create and review functional and physical interfaces and generate analysis requirements for enclosures.
- Collaborate with electronics engineering to meet joint mechanical and electronic requirements and guidelines.
- Support creation of detailed drawings and model‑based definitions; support procurement of conforming hardware.
- Orchestrate technical reviews and design reviews, produce technical presentations and reports for project and customer stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with product certification requirements (e.g., RTCA/DO‑160, MIL‑STD‑810).
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1+ year of design experience, or Master’s or PhD in Engineering.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- 3+ years of experience in electronic enclosure design.
- Proficiency with computer‑aided design and analysis tools such as Siemens NX and ANSYS.
- Familiarity with cross‑discipline engineering concepts (manufacturing engineering, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, thermal and mechanical analysis).
- Knowledge of aero gas turbine control systems.
- Experience using Siemens NX for design and component testing processes.
