Duties PURPOSE OF POSITION AND ORGANIZATIONAL
LOCATION:
The primary purpose of this position is: to remove, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.
1. Removes, installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, aligns, calibrates, and rebuilds multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.
2. Performs pretest, operational (functional), or final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies. Complies with security procedures, regulations and policies.
3. Advises engineering personnel on the operation and maintenance effects of proposed Time Compliance Technical Orders (TCTO) and/or modifications on new or existing equipment.
4. Utilizes safety practices and tool control procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work area. Prepares/executes effective training plans to maximize training.
5. Documents/recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation And Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is ability to perform the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic with little or no supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Extensive knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to understand and predict the progressive effects of malfunctions throughout the interrelated units, (e.g., trace the effect of a change in one subsystem to other integrated subsystems and determine which controls and devices must be changed or adjusted to compensate). 2. Thorough knowledge of the application of electronic theories and practices to one or more complex integrated systems such as fire control, power control, environmental, inertial navigation, or automatic landing control systems.
3. Broad knowledge of radar, digital or analog computers, digital display devices, environmental operation, etc., and specific knowledge of the technology and practices which integrate these components into a total functional system. Knowledge of mathematics including algebra and trigonometric functions to adapt standard formulas to the specific requirements of the integrated system.
4. Skill in the set up and operation of computer controlled automated test equipment (ATE) and test stands, oscilloscopes (dual trace, storage, digitized), spectrum, network and distortion analyzers, frequency counters, and signal generators; in interpreting complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complete…
