Engineering Technician – Construction Testing – Indianapolis, IN
Job DescriptionIntertek, through its Professional Services Industries, Inc. (Intertek‑PSI) division, seeks an Engineering Technician (Engineering Tech I) to join our Indianapolis office. The role focuses on construction materials testing and inspection for commercial projects.
Responsibilities- Participate in sampling and perform field testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt during construction activities.
- Prepare written reports summarizing test results and action items.
- Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and design teams to report findings, schedule testing, and provide recommendations.
- Participate in monthly safety meetings and online safety training courses.
- Pick up test samples that were previously cast or stockpiled for sampling.
Bulk of work occurs between 7 am and 5 pm, with some early‑morning assignments and expected weekend work (approximately one Saturday per month). Travel to project sites is primarily day trips; occasional short‑term overnight travel may be required.
Salary & BenefitsBase wage range: $18.50 – $23.00 per hour, dependent on skill set, experience, and qualifications.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications- High School Diploma.
- Entry level; no prior experience needed.
- Valid driver’s license with a reliable driving record.
- Physically capable of working outdoors and maneuvering a wheelbarrow of concrete multiple times per day.
- B.S. degree in an engineering field.
- 1+ year of relevant experience.
- Engineering background through education preferred but not required.
- Other certifications such as ACI, NICET, or INDOT are welcome but not required.
