Johnson Controls is a global leader in smart, healthy and sustainable buildings. We are seeking a Building Automation Systems Engineer to design, configure and operate complete building control systems, including fire, security and other low‑voltage subsystems such as lighting, nurse call and data networks.
Responsibilities- Design, configure and operate building control systems to meet project requirements.
- Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs.
- Develop complex software programs, commission and troubleshoot to ensure proper system operation.
- Prepare detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation teams and subcontractors.
- Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of materials, network layouts and electrical schematics.
- Develop and test software programs required to operate the system per project intent.
- Coordinate and create necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
- Select, order and track delivery of materials for assigned projects.
- Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedule.
- Assist in loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers.
- Validate complete system functionality and resolve problems with subcontractors and other trades.
- Provide field change information for as‑built drawings and software updates.
- Keep management and contractors informed of job progress and issues.
- Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on total building control system.
- Participate in release meetings with project field teams.
- Perform value engineering to provide cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- May provide work directions to Systems Design Assistants.
- Adhere to safety standards with a high degree of employee and subcontractor safety.
- Travel is required for this role.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum three years of experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the construction or HVAC industry.
- Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
- Experience with JCI software programming.
- Experience in integrating low‑voltage building subsystems using industry protocols such as LON, BACnet, etc.
- Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly computer‑related drafting tools.
- Ability to travel regularly.
Hiring salary range: $78,000 – $105,000 USD (salary determined by education, experience, skills, and market data).
