Location: Middlebury

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute mechanical and structural designs from concept through production
  • Design components and structures for RV, towable, and marine products
  • Perform structural and packaging studies for vehicle chassis and subsystem layouts
  • Conduct trade studies on materials and design approaches
  • Perform engineering analysis including FEA and factor of safety calculations
  • Support Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) initiatives
  • Perform DFMEA and PFMEA activities
  • Support prototyping, testing, and production readiness activities
  • Select manufacturing technologies and support material selection
  • Coordinate with suppliers during design, prototyping, and production phases
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Develop and release engineering documentation and design data
  • Support project management and systems engineering activities
  • Coordinate with multiple production locations and top management
Required Skills
  • Strong automotive or vehicle engineering experience
  • Experience developing structural designs including unibody and body-on-frame structures
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with CAD tools and PLM systems
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes
  • Experience performing mechanical design calculations
  • Experience with DFMA, DFMEA, and PFMEA
  • Experience taking vehicle-related products from concept to production
  • Strong understanding of structural materials including metals and composites
  • Strong communication and supplier coordination skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with composite materials and advanced structural materials
  • Experience with carbon fiber, thermoplastics, thermosets, prepregs, sandwich panels, and honeycomb cores
  • Experience in automotive, RV, truck, trailer, aerospace, or heavy equipment industries
  • Experience improving quality, safety, reliability, and maintainability
  • Experience handling large product development projects
Education
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related engineering field
