What you will do

As a Controls Project Manager for our HVAC division, you will act as the on‑site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers.

How you will do it
  • Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming.
  • Validate system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and other personnel.
  • Provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation.
  • Evaluate the contractual scope of work and impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives, and scheduling changes.
  • Communicate technical and business‑related issues with clients.
  • Actively pursue additional work through change orders.
  • Lead and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers.
  • Coordinate job‑site site for panel and field device physical locations.
  • Maintain project status communication to management and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
  • Develop project plans and coordinate required resources.
  • Perform site‑specific training for owners/operators on the total system.
  • Send warranty letters to customers upon meaningful completion of the project.
  • Provide detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff, and subcontractors.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide technical assistance to System Technicians, Electrical Installers, System Designers, and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure that delegated tasks are completed accurately, on time, billed, within budget, and within contract scope.
  • Develop and maintain viable long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Attend job progress meetings as required.
  • Ensure that all safety standards are met.
  • Select, order, budget, and schedule delivery of materials.
  • Secure pricing and availability from outside vendors and suppliers.
  • Handle costs, billings, and collections.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a technical associate’s degree with four years of field experience or six years of equivalent related field experience in the HVAC/Building Automation industry.
  • Relevant technical hands‑on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC/Building Automation controls systems.
  • HVAC Controls Knowledge with Customer Communication, Organization, and Ability to lead projects.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate technical material to a non‑technical audience.
  • Ability to perform work independently.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, and related software.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC/Building Automation systems.
  • Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent with six years field experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Experience preparing reports for upper management regarding project status.
  • High degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Hiring salary range: $90,500–135,000 (salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
