We are seeking a Mid to Senior Electrical Field Service Specialist to join our client's team supporting power distribution system equipment. This role is Remote with travel to client sites within Indianapolis, IN area. Candidate will provide hands-on-field support services and technical expertise across a variety of customer sites.
Candidate must have Electrical Field Services experience with electrical troubleshooting and testing of electrical equipment, components, and systems. Candidate must be able to install, service, commission, provide testing, maintenance, failure analysis, quality control, and perform troubleshooting as well as repairs to electrical components, electrical equipment, and power systems. Ideal candidates will also have experience with Mid-Level and Low-Level Voltage environments. Candidates will be working with switch gear / switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, metering, power monitoring, power quality, protective relays, motor control centers, VFDs, cable, and backup power supplies.
Responsibilities- Perform basic to complex installation, maintenance, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting for client's systems as well as perform job site final walk-through.
- Provide service and maintenance and testing of switch gear/switchboard, motor controls, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, and surge protection devices.
- Perform vibration analysis and metering, battery maintenance and testing, protective relay maintenance, troubleshooting, and replacement.
- Install wiring and connect to the power source.
- Perform emergency troubleshooting of power distribution products and third-party equipment.
- Perform complex service upgrades, reconditioning, retrofits, etc. for low-voltage power distribution products and systems.
- Perform onsite technical and operational support in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of equipment and systems of a complex nature.
- Perform complex site surveys to develop base or installation design plans.
- Provide instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections. Train customers to maintain and adjust complex equipment.
- Provide expert advice, training, and technical assistance to support staff and train lower-level employees.
- Complete and submit reports covering all job activity.
- Responsible for maintaining complex tools, test equipment, calibration items, etc.
- Plan and estimate labor categories, rates, material dollar costs, and transportation expenses to complete complex proposals.
- Perform review of complex task plans, drawings, and installation schematics; provide continual guidance throughout the project duration.
- Must be available to respond to emergency and relief assignments.
- High School Diploma or state recognized GED
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits and ability to obtain thermography certification
- 3+ years of experience with installation, commissioning, maintenance, and testing of low and medium voltage power distributions systems
- Experience working with industrial and commercial power systems (electrical control circuits, switch gear/switchboard, circuit breakers, motor controls, transformers, and electrical devices)
- 3+ years of experience with electrical testing, including but not limited to primary current injection testing, resistance testing, dielectric testing, and thermal scans on medium and low-voltage electrical systems
- 3+ years of experience using electrical test sets to perform AC and DC high potential testing (Hipot), transformer turns ratio testing (TTR), transformer power factor testing, and other power system test practices and procedures
- Must have experience working with troubleshooting and testing of switch gear / switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, metering, power monitoring, power quality, protective relays, motor control centers, VFDs, cable, and backup power supplies
- Will look at some experience from On-the-job or educational experience with:
- Interpreting protective coordination studies and testing and configuring protective relays
- Reading bills of material, electrical blueprints, and power system study reports
- Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distributions systems
- The arc flash and shock hazards of 13.8 kV and the following electrical equipment:
Siemens GIS, AIS, WL, RL, and SB breakers and switch gear - ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA codes and standards
- Ability and willingness to obtain certifications as needed
- Must be able and willing to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
