Job SummaryEMCOR Services Automated Controls is seeking a Building Automation System (BAS) Hardware Engineer with control experience and an HVAC background. The successful candidate will join our growing automation design team, supporting projects in the commercial and industrial markets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Attend project turnover meetings with the sales and project team.
- Design building automation systems and create project submittals/shop drawings using construction plans and specifications.
- Identify any gaps or ambiguity in the project and submit RFIs as required.
- Establish and maintain unique customer standards in design/build and plan/spec markets.
- With experience, mentor new employees and assist in their growth.
- Write control sequences and coordinate design intent with programers.
- Provide operational and technical support/direction to field operations and subcontractors.
- Obtain field markups and revise the shop drawings with any changes for owner records.
- Maintain backups of all project documentation, including record drawings on construction management software.
- Develop strong relationships with new and existing customers.
- Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to the Engineering Manager or Project Manager with recommendations for resolution.
- Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.
- Perform additional assignments as required by the needs of the company or as directed.
- 10% local travel may be required to customer site visits and progress meetings.
- Associate’s degree in a related engineering/technology field required; bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering preferred.
- In lieu of an engineering/technical degree, a combination of verifiable DDC specific training and two or more years of experience will be considered.
- DDC or PLC design experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of low voltage electrical wiring.
- Experience in engineering, design, or installation/service of HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of commercial electrical, HVAC, and control theory.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and contract documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel). Advanced experience with spreadsheets a plus.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
- Familiarity with building architecture and computer networks.
- Familiarity with third‑party equipment integration over protocols such as BACnet/Modbus.
- Programming experience is a plus.
