Position Overview
dormakaba is seeking a Mechatronics Test & Validation Technician based onsite in Indianapolis, IN. The Mechatronics Test & Validation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of mechanical and mechatronic products. This role contributes directly to delivering high-quality products by executing hands‑on testing, developing effective validation strategies, and collaborating closely with cross‑functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
HIRING SALARY RANGE:
Base Salary $70,000 - $90,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Please visit our career site for more information on benefits.
- Develop and execute test plans and strategies to validate mechanical and mechatronic products against performance, reliability, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Design and build test fixtures and setups that accurately simulate real‑world operating conditions
- Conduct hands‑on testing of components, subsystems, and fully integrated systems using a variety of lab equipment, instrumentation, and software tools
- Analyze test data to identify defects, performance gaps, and improvement opportunities, and communicate findings clearly to engineering teams
- Develop and implement automated testing solutions and continuously improve testing processes, tools, and methodologies
- 3+ years of relevant experience in mechanical or mechatronics testing or a recent engineering graduate with strong hands‑on skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and basic software engineering principles
- Experience executing test plans, test methods, and documented validation procedures
- Ability to analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and perform root‑cause analysis
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
- Experience with test automation frameworks and scripting
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, electronic control systems, and PLC programming
- Hands‑on experience with machining, fabrication, and 3D printing of test fixtures
- Familiarity with ISO-certified processes and formal documentation standards
