Job Overview
Joining CGB Enterprises, Inc. as a Control Systems Engineer provides an opportunity to design, program, and maintain PLC/DCS and instrumentation systems that keep our grain and transportation operations safe, efficient, and reliable.
Key Responsibilities- Perform control systems design, programming, and implementation for production and troubleshooting PLC/DCS systems.
- Calibrate instrumentation, create or upgrade PLC, DCS, and HMI programs for new and existing equipment.
- Develop and document engineering solutions to reduce repetitive failures, improve capacity, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead projects from conception to completion, including design, scheduling, budgeting, and permitting.
- Produce electrical layouts, design plans, sketches, assembly drawings, and project documentation.
- Maintain operation software including Historian, Maximo, OPC, Kepserver, and Link master; assist in Maximo implementation and support.
- Conduct startups and commissioning, troubleshoot controls issues remotely and on site, and perform panel/machine build and field alterations.
- Specify, purchase, and design electrical and control panels; oversee panel layout and control infrastructure.
- Support plant safety, food safety, and quality programs; monitor production processes and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Coordinate with management on capital projects, process improvements, and cost targets.
- Associate’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in controls engineering.
- Proficiency with Delta V, ABB Freelance, Dataparc, Allen‑Bradley PLCs.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering, controls, PLC/DCS systems, and instrumentation.
- Experience with installation, repair, and maintenance of machinery and mechanical systems.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication; ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong decision‑making, negotiation, construction management, time management, and project coordination skills.
- Capacity to learn and apply supervisory responsibilities as needed.
- Lift, push, pull up to 40lb.
- Climb stairs and ladders; squat and kneel.
- Work in confined spaces and outdoors under extreme weather.
- Perform extended hours, evenings, weekends, holidays, and on‑call duties for troubleshooting and repairs.
- Maintain close visual acuity for detailed tasks, including inspection and assembly of small parts.
