Job Summary

- Reports to:
Director of Maintenance
- Base Pay: $30.00 – $50.00 / Hour (paid bi‑weekly)
- Crew Chief Incentive: $4.00 / Hour
- Overtime Pay: all hours over 40 per week
- $6.00 / Hour Shift Premium for 2nd shift
- $2.00 / Hour Travel Premium for AOG assignments
- Serve as Avionics Crew Chief overseeing avionics operations across business aviation platforms.
- Execute and supervise complex avionics installations, including panel upgrades, retrofits, STC modifications, and full system integrations.
- Evaluate aircraft configuration for system compatibility prior to installation.
- Fabricate, terminate, route and modify wiring harnesses to professional aviation standards.
- Integrate avionics with autopilot, navigation, communication, engine indication, and flight control systems.
- Install and configure Gogo ATG and satellite connectivity systems, including antenna installation and calibration.
- Diagnose and resolve advanced avionics discrepancies to component level.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, and maintenance manuals.
- Resolve system conflicts between legacy electrical architecture and modern avionics equipment.
- Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and test equipment to validate performance.
- Document all work: FAA logs, Form 337, and audit‑ready documentation.
- Provide installation guidance and review work to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and FAA regulations.
- Mentor and oversee avionics technicians in wiring practices and diagnostic techniques.
- Plan avionics projects: labor scope, risk assessment, compatibility considerations.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for installation processes and quality standards.
- Collaborate with parts dept. and vendors for timely acquisition of specialized components.
- Support travel to other locations and AOG assignments as needed.
- Current A&P License preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience with diversified jet, turboprop, or piston aircraft avionics maintenance in an MRO environment.
- Leadership experience overseeing avionics teams and complex installations.
- Proficient in wiring fabrication, harness modification, termination and routing.
- Experience with Garmin, Collins, Avidyne and other major OEM avionics systems.
- Advanced knowledge of integration between avionics, autopilot, navigation, communication and flight control systems.
- Experience with Form 337 documentation, STC compliance and audit‑ready practices.
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment: oscilloscopes, signal generators, specialized avionics test equipment.
- Knowledge of GA platforms:
Cirrus, Beechcraft, Cessna, Hawker, Embraer. - Ability to troubleshoot conflicts between legacy and modern avionics equipment.
- Mentoring and training experience for technicians.
- Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Pass comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.

- Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with Gogo ATG and satellite connectivity systems.
- Advanced knowledge of modern glass cockpit systems and integrated avionics suites.
- Certifications from major OEM manufacturers (Garmin, Collins, Avidyne).
- Planning and scoping complex avionics projects, labor estimates, and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with Wi‑Fi, data, and connectivity integration between cockpit and cabin systems.
- Experience with computerized maintenance tracking systems and avionics diagnostic software.
- Understanding of hydraulic, flight control, and powerplant systems for integrated troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a methodical troubleshooting approach.
- Proven leadership to set standards, oversee team operations, and promote continuous improvement and growth culture.
- Willingness to travel for avionics support at other locations or AOG situations.
- Professional communication skills for presenting technical findings to leadership.
- Continuous learning mindset to stay current with rapidly evolving avionics technologies.
