The Engineering Technology & Safety Aerothermal teams design and validate aerothermal components for gas turbine main flow‑path systems. As a Local Specialist you will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver key programme milestones that advance the Defence strategy for the next 50 years.
What you will be doing- Design, analyze and simulate gas turbine system components and subsystems using meanline, through flow, and CFD methods.
- Work with performance and system‑level designers to define, understand and interpret sub‑system requirements, and issue sub‑system performance maps and bids.
- Interface with aeromechanics, heat transfer and mechanical design teams to account for aerodynamic impacts.
- Plan, execute and oversee component and sub‑system "rig" tests, including data reduction, processing and detailed post‑test analysis.
- Integrate CFD simulations, experimental results and first‑principle analyses into a cohesive understanding of component and sub‑system capabilities against requirements.
- Support local and global aerodynamics disciplines with capability acquisition, technology planning, and community of practice collaboration.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to update best practices, automate processes and eliminate waste.
- Act as a mentor, providing direction and guidance to other aerothermal engineers.

Basic Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics or mathematics and 5+ years of aero industry experience,
- or Master’s degree in engineering or business management and 3+ years of aero industry experience,
- or a relevant JD/PhD,
- US citizenship.
- Proficiency with aerodynamics, turbo machinery, airfoil design and CFD.
- Competence with gas turbine engine architecture, thermodynamics and heat transfer.
- Experience in component aerodynamic design.
- Strong communication of aerothermal concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Collaborative teamwork and broad engineering awareness.
