Patriot Engineering & Environmental, Inc. (Patriot) is growing and is looking for a Geo Technical Staff Engineer to join our talented and impactful team in our Indianapolis, IN office. After 6 months in our Indianapolis office, there is an opportunity to relocate to other offices in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, or Ohio.
Career OpportunityPatriot has an opening for entry‑level or experienced Geo Technical Staff Engineers. The successful candidate will provide engineering and consulting services for a broad array of projects and clients. Responsibilities include conducting and leading field investigations, performing engineering analysis and calculations, designing plans and specifications, observing and inspecting construction, and preparing and reviewing related reports. The role also involves reviewing drawings and construction for compliance, preparing proposals and cost estimates, tracking and evaluating project progress and budgets, researching and resolving design and construction problems, and evaluating laboratory or field data for inclusion in reports.
Effective communication of complex engineering issues to technical and non‑technical stakeholders is essential. Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in the public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial sectors.
- Executing geotechnical engineering projects from start to finish
- Developing field exploration and laboratory testing plans for geotechnical investigations
- Preparing proposals for geotechnical engineering services
- Coordinating and managing field investigations
- Sampling and logging soils and rock during field investigations
- Researching, engineering analysis, and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports
- Tracking budgets and schedule to ensure project requirements are met
- Reviewing foundation and grading plans for conformance with geotechnical investigation reports
- Collaborating with other consultants, including civil, structural engineers, architects, and construction managers
- Using computer programs, geotechnical software, and databases as required
- Performing all other duties as assigned
- BS in Civil Engineering and EIT required; MS with a Geotechnical Engineering focus strongly preferred
- Educational emphasis on Soils Mechanics, Foundations, Geotechnical Engineering, and Civil Engineering
- Professional written and oral communication skills are necessary
- Critical thinking and judgment skills
- Demonstrated ability to listen, learn, and communicate at the highest levels
