Our Airport Solutions Client is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the design, compliance, and delivery of ‘Pre-Conditioned Air’ (PCA) units and airport ground support equipment. This role bridges engineering, compliance, and project execution. You'll own technical deliverables from initial design through project completion, while supporting sales with customer-facing technical guidance.
This is an amazing opportunity for someone with 2-5 years of mechanical or systems engineering experience. The position will report to the Director of Engineering
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain compliance matrices against customer specifications (e.g., Section 34 77 80/34 77 37) and applicable standards (CE Machinery Directive, LVD, EMC, FAA Buy America / 49 USC 50101)
- Prepare design submittal packages, including scope of supply documents, technical data sheets, and deviation/RFI tracking
- Support Declarations of Conformity and third-party inspection response processes
- Perform thermal and psychrometric cooling load calculations to support unit sizing and selection across aircraft code categories
- Create and maintain fabrication packages, including drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation
- Own assigned projects from technical kickoff through completion, tracking milestones and material gate dates
- Coordinate across engineering, procurement, and manufacturing to ensure on-time, compliant delivery
- Maintain project documentation and status reporting for internal and customer stakeholders
- Serve as technical point of contact for customer inquiries during pre-sale and post-sale phases
- Support proposal development with technical inputs, unit selection, and specification compliance review
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field)
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, product engineering, or technical project engineering
- Working knowledge of thermal/cooling load calculations and psychrometries
- Experience with BOM/ERP systems (e.g., Business Central) and CAD/documentation tools
- Strong written communication skills for technical documentation and customer-facing correspondence
- Knowledge of refrigeration system design (compressors, VFDs, refrigerant circuits) — Copeland, Danfoss, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (CE, FAA, NEC, ASHRAE)
- Exposure to PLC-based control systems
- Experience with airport ground support equipment or aviation industry specifications (ATA Spec 101)
