Manufacturing Engineer
Responsibilities
- Feasibility study, estimate, quote, evaluate, specify and purchase capital equipment and tooling for new programs or modifications to existing programs within budget.
- Interact and direct vendors to provide equipment and tooling to our standards and performance expectations.
- Launch equipment and tooling onto the production floor and support ongoing production throughout the program cycle.
- Develop time lines and maintain them through follow‑up.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot plant operations issues through root‑cause analysis and provide technical support for daily operations.
- Develop and maintain process documentation and assist with quality documentation.
- Understand and perform tolerance stack‑ups; solid grasp of GD&T and datum schemes.
- Investigate and implement cost reductions through process improvements.
- Record lessons learned and revise system documentation to reduce recurrence.
- Produce CAD drawings as required.
- Maintain plant layout for efficient product flow within equipment.
- Maintain and organize drawing database – CAD and hard copies.
- Work directly with skilled trades, program managers, and quality engineers.
- Manage and execute actions from the ECN/ECR system.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering.
- Technical degree with experience, very strong hands‑on candidate with 2+ years of applicable experience.
- Experience in high‑volume steel processing/manufacturing is a plus.
- Previous experience in the automotive field is a plus.
- Ability to solve problems through logic and remove road blocks.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of Solid Works CAD system is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret documents and statutes from jurisdictional agencies, procedure manuals, and specification manuals. Ability to write instructions, plant operating procedures, routine reports, and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, regulatory agencies, and employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry, and basic concepts of physical science.
