Engineer - Automation Engineering (Eli Lilly, Foundry)
Key Responsibilities /Deliverables:
- Provide automation support for one or more operating areas and/or capital projects; support GMP startup and ongoing manufacturing.
- Mentor the process control team (design, controls philosophy, implementation, commissioning) and lead/participate in commissioning support.
- Develop and implement the Automation Engineering Project Plan.
- Technically lead/oversee Site Area leads and System Integrators (functional requirements, design specifications, DCS application software, test specifications).
- Lead/participate in design reviews and DeltaV application software reviews; attend equipment and software FATs.
- Create functional requirements and process control strategies with Process Engineering.
- Perform DCS/SCADA design, coding/configuration, and testing (sequence logic, graphics, batch software).
- Design, tune, and troubleshoot control loops.
- Implement/support electronic systems (e.g., plant historians and integration) to capture production data.
- Maintain validated state of site control systems (validation strategies and documentation).
- Provide automation support for capital projects and new product introductions.
- Improve productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance through automation.
- Provide periodic status updates to Project Management; build a network of corporate contacts.
- Set/reinforce automation work standards with automation/compliance consultants.
- Strong planning/prioritization, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and influence skills; good written/verbal communication.
- B.S. in Engineering and automation engineering experience (preferably small molecule API).
- 2+ years in biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. full-time; no visa sponsorship.
- Experience with greenfield automated sites using SCADA/DCS/PLC/MES (e.g., DeltaV, Rockwell, Syncade).
- Experience facilitating organizational decision-making.
