Position Title: Controller

Position Summary: The expectations in the Controller role, we expect a high-level, strategic, and tactical accounting professional who serves as the head of an organization's accounting department. They will be responsible for managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, maintaining internal controls, and overseeing daily accounting functions like payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Bookkeeping & Accounting- Record and maintain accurate financial transactions (income, expenses, bank reconciliations). Ensure all general ledgers are fully reconciled in a timely manner.
- Manage accounts payable (AP) (vendor payments, supply orders).
- Process payroll, ensuring compliance with tax laws and employee benefits deductions.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper financial classifications.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit & loss (P&L), balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
- Close out each day, week, month and year to balance with the date and financial information provided by the offices.
- Develop and monitor budgets to track expenses and profitability.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Ensure tax compliance by preparing necessary reports for sales tax, payroll tax, and corporate taxes.
- Partner with billing, collections, and insurance claims support to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Monitor patient payment plans and outstanding balances, working with collections as needed.
- Identify inefficiencies in billing and reimbursement processes and implement improvements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and healthcare financial policies.
- Implement internal controls to prevent financial discrepancies and fraud.
- Coordinate with external auditors and CPAs for financial reviews and tax filings.
- Advise leadership on cost-saving opportunities, revenue growth strategies, and investment decisions.
- Manage vendor contracts and negotiate pricing for supplies, insurance, and services.
- Assess financial feasibility of expanding locations, purchasing equipment, or hiring staff.
- Other projects or change of duties as defined by Dr. Finney or the Director of Operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Certification: CPA or MBA is required.
- Experience: Extensive experience in financial management, accounting, and leadership roles.
- Technical
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of dental accounting principles, financial software, and ERP systems. - Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with senior management.
