Full-Time | Exempt | Reports to CFO

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations and financial reporting for our established not-for-profit organization. This role oversees general ledger activity, internal controls, tax compliance, audits, and financial reporting, ensuring full compliance with GAAP. This is an excellent opportunity for a nonprofit accounting professional who enjoys strengthening systems, improving processes, and supporting executive leadership.

• Oversee AR, AP, Payroll, and all general ledger activity
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and internal reports
• Ensure GAAP compliance and maintain accounting policies
• Design and monitor internal controls
• Conduct risk assessments and strengthen financial systems
• Coordinate year-end audit/review
• Oversee tax compliance (sales/use, property, income, and other business taxes)
• Review Sister tax returns prepared by outside accounting firm
• Supervise accounting team members
• Partner closely with CFO on financial strategy and reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3-plus years as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Director of Accounting or 5-plus years public accounting experience
• Strong GAAP knowledge
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with internal controls and financial systems

• CPA
• 5-plus years nonprofit accounting experience

• Detail-oriented and analytical
• Strong leader with supervisory experience
• Comfortable improving systems and processes
• Committed to compliance, integrity, and accountability
• Able to translate financial data into clear leadership reporting
