About the Opportunity
Our client is a large North American organization seeking a Payroll & Payroll Tax Specialist to support a high-volume, complex payroll environment. This is a 6-month contract engagement with the potential for future opportunities based on business needs.
The successful candidate will join an established payroll team and play a key role in payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, testing initiatives, year-end activities, and process improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities- Process multi-state U.S. payroll and support Canadian payroll operations.
- Manage payroll tax activities, including federal, state, and local compliance requirements.
- Support year-end payroll processing and tax reporting activities.
- Participate in payroll system testing and validation efforts.
- Assist with payroll-related projects and system enhancements.
- Provide audit support and identify opportunities for process improvements and standardization.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
- Serve as an additional subject matter expert in payroll tax compliance within the team.
- Strong U.S. payroll tax expertise with the ability to work independently.
- Experience managing payroll in a complex multi-state environment.
- Experience supporting both U.S. and Canadian payroll operations.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Experience with third-party payroll tax vendors and payroll service providers.
- Background in payroll process improvement, auditing, or operational excellence initiatives.
- Experience supporting payroll system implementations, conversions, or testing projects.
- Prior experience within a large, multi-location organization.
- Target start date:
July 2025 - Fully remote considered
