Tax Specialist

Role Description

The Tax Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing financial information, researching tax issues, identifying tax-saving opportunities, and supporting tax planning strategies for clients. The Tax Specialist will communicate directly with clients to gather documentation, explain tax positions, and respond to inquiries.

The role also involves maintaining organized records, monitoring tax law changes, and collaborating with colleagues to support broader accounting and advisory services.

• Strong tax technical skills, including experience with Tax, Tax Law, and related compliance requirements.
• Hands‑on experience with Tax Preparation for individuals and businesses, ensuring accurate and timely filings.
• Ability to provide proactive Tax Planning guidance to optimize client tax positions and identify savings opportunities.
• Solid understanding of Finance principles to interpret financial statements and support tax analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or Enrolled Agent credential preferred or in progress.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software and common office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, accounting platforms).
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients.
• Ability to work on‑site in Indianapolis, IN, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
