Job Overview
First Commercial Finance (FCF) Credit Officers provide leadership, direction, oversight, and guidance in credit origination, underwriting, and management. The role may oversee Market or Portfolio Managers, Credit Analysts, Underwriters, and Loan Origination staff. FCF Credit Officers share responsibility with line and product management for the credit quality of assigned portfolios and participate in credit approval and Problem Loan Committees.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities- Lending authority up to $7.5 million and recommend approvals of any credit requests exceeding $7.5 million.
- Direct supervision of Underwriters, Credit Analysts, Portfolio Analysts, or other staff in the commercial finance credit process.
- Recommend to FCF management and senior management improvements to credit processes, policies, and underwriting standards.
- Present or participate with Executive and Senior Management on commercial finance credit issues.
- Ensure completion and appropriate management of credit quality, management, underwriting, analysis, and client concept reviews in line with FCF Credit Culture.
- Approve and recommend credits within the bank’s Credit Approval Policies and Processes in assigned credit authority.
- Participate in credit quality and credit management reviews to achieve satisfactory or better results.
- Assume responsibility for appropriate assignment of Asset Quality Ratings on all loan relationships.
- Assist Special Asset officers with workout strategy development, including Exit vs. Retain decisions.
- Review and negotiate proposed legal loan documents when requested by FCF management or Counsel.
- Provide training on credit processes, policies, and management as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by FCF management.
- 10+ years of related experience and/or training or equivalent education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial credit exposures.
- Thorough knowledge of bank credit policies, approval processes, underwriting standards, and risk management frameworks.
- Advanced familiarity with federal and state banking regulations governing commercial lending, asset quality, and legal documentation.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent leadership abilities, including direct supervision, coaching, and mentoring.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills for presentations and reports to senior and executive management.
- Effective interpersonal and collaboration skills for cross‑functional teamwork and committee participation.
- Oversight of complex commercial finance credit transactions with lending authority up to $7.5 million.
- Experience advising on special assets, credit exceptions, and highly complex scenarios.
- Ability to exercise significant independent judgment in evaluating, underwriting, approving, and recommending credits within assigned authority.
- Proactive identification and implementation of improvements to processes, policies, and underwriting standards.
- Participation in organization‑wide committees and strategic meetings impacting bank‑wide credit risk and policy direction.
Direct supervision of Associate Credit Officers, Underwriters, Credit Analysts, portfolio analysts, or other staff in the commercial finance credit process.
Physical RequirementsWork primarily in a professional office setting with standard business hours; sedentary with prolonged periods at a desk. Occasional standing, walking, light lifting up to 20 lbs., and travel by car or air may be required.

Pay Range$–$ per year.
