Job Description

Vice President of Finance | Strategic Executive Leadership Opportunity

Indianapolis, Indiana

Drive Strategy. Build Value. Lead Growth.

Jack Laurie Group is seeking an exceptional Vice President of Finance to become one of the key executive leaders helping shape the future of our company.

This is more than a traditional finance or accounting leadership role.

We're looking for a strategic financial executive who will partner directly with ownership, the President, and our Board of Directors to help drive company strategy, improve profitability, strengthen financial performance, and maximize the long‑term enterprise value of the business.

Just as importantly, we're looking for a leader who isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves and get in the trenches with the team. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who enjoys partnering with operations, solving problems, improving processes, coaching people, and helping the business win—not simply reviewing financial statements from behind a desk.

While this leader will oversee all accounting and finance operations, their greatest impact will come from helping shape where the company is going—not simply reporting where it has been.

The ideal candidate has experience leading finance within a growing organization and understands project‑based businesses such as construction, specialty contracting, manufacturing, industrial services, or similar environments. More importantly, they possess the strategic mindset, leadership ability, and business acumen to influence decisions at every level of the organization.

  • Serve as the primary financial advisor to the President, ownership, and executive leadership team.
  • Present strategic financial analysis, recommendations, and business insights to the President and Board of Directors.
  • Participate in quarterly Board meetings as the organization's financial leader.
  • Help shape the company's long‑term strategic vision through sound financial leadership.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies that support sustainable growth and organizational scalability.
  • Drive initiatives that increase EBITDA, profitability, cash flow, and overall enterprise value.
  • Evaluate acquisitions, investments, capital expenditures, financing opportunities, and strategic business initiatives.
  • Build executive dashboards, KPIs, and financial scorecards that provide actionable insights for leadership.
  • Provide financial guidance that helps leadership make confident, informed business decisions.

Financial Strategy & Business Performance

  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range financial planning.
  • Develop financial strategies that support the company's long‑term growth objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve margins, optimize working capital, and strengthen financial performance.
  • Analyze profitability by division, customer, market, and project.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting, forecasting accuracy, and internal controls.
  • Build scalable financial systems and processes that support a growing organization.
  • Partner with leadership to establish financial objectives and measure organizational performance against them.

Accounting & Finance Leadership

  • Provide executive oversight for all Accounting and Finance functions across multiple business units.
  • Lead:
    • Month‑End Close
    • General Ledger
    • Accounts Payable
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Payroll
    • Treasury & Cash Management
    • Banking Relationships
    • Audit Coordination
    • Tax Compliance
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and meaningful financial reporting.
  • Continuously improve accounting systems, reporting capabilities, and financial processes.
  • Maintain strong internal controls while supporting organizational growth.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing Accounting & Finance…
