Role Description

The Retail Real Estate Lending Officer is a full-time, on-site or remote role with opportunities based in Columbus, Bloomington and Greater Indianapolis, responsible for originating retail real estate loans. This role includes working directly with customers to understand their real estate financing needs, structuring appropriate loan product offers, and guiding applicants through the approval and closing process. The Lending Officer will analyze financial information, property details, and creditworthiness to ensure quality loan submissions so underwriting can achieve sound lending decisions that align with bank policies and regulatory requirements.

Daily responsibilities include maintaining a pipeline of loan prospects, building relationships with real estate professionals and community partners, and providing timely, clear communication to customers.

Qualifications
  • Strong Finance skills, including credit analysis, cash flow review, and risk assessment for lending decisions.
  • Proven customer service and relationship-building skills in a banking or financial services environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply lending policies, regulatory requirements, and compliance standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and comfort interacting with diverse customers and partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Real Estate, or a related field, or equivalent experience in lending preferred
  • Prior experience in mortgage or real estate lending within a community bank or similar institution is also preferred.
