Role Overview:As a Community Transition Program Coordinator, you will perform duties and provide oversight of the statewide Community Transition Program (CTP). In this position, you will assist the Indiana Department of Corrections (IDOC) Community Corrections Director and Assistant Director with oversight that includes, but is not limited to, financial reimbursement to counties supervising CTP individuals, notification of eligible incarcerated individuals to county agencies, disciplinary hearings, and training & technical assistance.
Incumbent reports to the Director of Community Corrections and performs duties with minimal supervision.
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:The essential functions of this role are as follows:
- Provides notification to county agencies when an incarcerated individual is eligible to participate in the Community Transition Program (CTP)
- Serves as the after‑hours contact for county agencies to request warrants for escapes, medical emergencies, and emergency incarcerated individual returns to IDOC
- Enters disciplinary hearing reports in the department's DELTA offender management system, which notifies Classification staff to adjust earned credit time
- Processes incarcerated individuals' court sentence modifications for CTP placement
- Assists in and coordinates the development, collection, maintenance, and review of Community Transition Program processes and improvement measures
- Provides technical assistance consistent with evidence‑based practices for supervising Community Corrections agencies and their Advisory Boards.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and improvement of IDOC policies and procedures as it relates to the Community Transition Program
- Monitors agencies and conducts site visits as needed to ensure statutory requirements, evidence‑based practices, state‑established guidelines, policies, and procedures are being followed
- Establishes quality assurance measurements concerning transition/re‑entry practices, policies, guidelines and outcomes
- Collaborates and communicates effectively with internal and external contacts to develop cooperative interpersonal relations, including IDOC facility staff, incarcerated individuals, courts, and county CTP supervision agencies
- Collaborates with IDOC's Legal Division, Classification Division, Re‑Entry Division, Transitional Healthcare Division, Victim Services Division, as well as local/state/federal agencies to ensure transition/re‑entry practices are in compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards (i.e. American Correctional Association)
- Collects and processes financial reimbursements to county agencies
- Collects and processes incarcerated individual court orders regarding approval or denial to participate in the Community Transition Program
- Remains current on legislation and nationwide trends in correctional practices as well as evidence‑based practices to ensure policies and procedures are being implemented correctly and in conjunction with nationwide trends
- Coordinates and conducts trainings both to internal and external stakeholders to provide education on the Community Transition Program
- Attends meetings as required
