Overview
As the head of the executive branch, the Office of the Mayor is responsible for enforcing city ordinances and state laws; appointing, supervising and removing heads and employees of city government departments, agencies and divisions; appointing, supervising, and removing deputy mayors, with appointments subject to City-County Council approval; communicating and coordinating with the City-County Council concerning the financial condition and budget of the city and county;
and setting the salaries of city employees.
Position is responsible for providing leadership to the Constituent Services team in the Mayor’s Office. Works in collaboration with other City departments and outside agencies to provide excellent links between the community and the City. The work performed in this position has a significant impact on public perception and understanding of programs and functions and the City’s ability to respond to requests, and issues of public concern, and the City’s ability to respond to problems and issues of public concern.
This position reports to the Communications Director.
A high level of independent judgment is required for this position as this employee oversees operations of the Constituent Services team. This position must be able to coordinate with other City Departments as well as external stakeholders to gather and track information. Position Responsibilities- Lead and manage all operations for the Constituent Services team, which is responsible for oversight and management of all constituent relations by various methods and the management of the Boards and Commission process.
- Coordinate citizen engagement activities and serve as the liaison between Constituent Services and the Mayor’s executive scheduling staff.
- Assist the Deputy Chief of Staff-Communications in managing information flow between the Mayor’s Office, the Mayor’s Action Center, and other city agencies and departments.
- Draft public-facing communications of behalf of the Mayor and the Office of the Mayor and supervise additional staff in their creation and dissemination of similar information. This includes all greetings, proclamations, letters of support and certificates requested from the Mayor’s Office.
- Serve as the liaison to Information Services Agency for the enterprise-wide Constituent Services IT Functioning Group.
- Drafts public-facing communications on behalf of the Mayor and the Office of the Mayor and manages the workflow of the staff assistant in their creation and dissemination of similar information.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of progressive related work experience. Excellent attention to detail, speaking, writing, and listening skill are crucial. Knowledge of city government functions is a must for this position. The ability to build a strong team to accomplish the Constituent Services mission is critical. Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with a full range of elected and appointed officials.
Effective budget management, oral and written communications staff development, and computer skills are required.
