Agency Summary

The purpose and mission of the Indianapolis Fire Department is to provide emergency and fire protection services for the City of Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Firefighters are also trained as paramedics, emergency medical technicians, extrication specialists, top water and rescue divers, confined space, trench rescue and as hazardous materials technicians to help save lives, protect property, and the environment.

Overview

Job Summary

The Plans Analyst II role will have multiple functions; to include advanced plan review and assuming the responsibilities outlined below.

Position Responsibilities
  • All position responsibilities as Plan Analyst I
  • Attend Fire & Safety Building Commission meetings to stay informed on variances, code updates and new State legislation.
  • Assists with training of incumbents and new hires as required.
  • Assist with fire code training for fire protection contractors.
  • Assists in developing (SOP’s) for Plans Analysts.
  • Lead contact for Indianapolis Buildings and Services inspectors and Indiana State Fire Marshal inspectors.
  • Other duties delegated by leadership to support the Division.
  • Monitors the on duty run car and assists when needed.
Qualifications

5 years as a fire inspector, plan reviewer or combination. National Fire Academy Plans Examiner certification (obtain w/ in one (1) year.) International Code Council (ICC) Plans Examiner certification (obtain w/ in one(1) year.) IFC Inspector II within 2 years.

Preferred

Job Requirements And Qualifications

International Code Council (ICC) mechanical, electrical, commercial, residential, fire inspector, and other ICC certifications that pertain to the scope of work. Firefighter I/II certification. Preference given to current IFD employees.

Working Conditions

Essential functions are regularly performed in an office setting without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
