Your Role: EKS Sustainability Program Analyst

Elanco Animal Health is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Project Analyst with a strong focus on carbon program measurement, monitoring, reporting, and verification (MMRV) to join our growing team. This critical role will contribute to both innovation/development of new programs and the operation of commercialized livestock (dairy and beef) sustainability programs. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of carbon programs, carbon markets, and emissions quantification and measurement strategies in agricultural projects.

This role will require the candidate to be able to develop quantification tools that meet methodology requirements, translate methodology monitoring requirements into actionable plans to be operationalized, and contribute deep technical knowledge to carbon program design. This role requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively to address complex challenges and can provide quantification and MMRV expertise to the expansion of Elanco sustainability offerings.

Responsibilities:

Innovation (50%):
Support the technical design and development of measurement, quantification, monitoring, reporting and verification components of new ruminant sustainability programs.

  • Quantification Tools and Measurement Application:
    Collaborate with Technical Consulting teams to build and maintain credible sustainability quantification approaches. Build quantification tools for use in programs. Support writing and documentation of quantification methodologies and SOPs as needed. Develop and refine data models to assess environmental impacts and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Methodologies and Standards Knowledge:
    Maintain and apply deep expertise in carbon programs, methodologies and standards, including various offset registries and scope 3 program opportunities for agricultural systems and/or super pollutants, Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Land Sector and Removals Standard and Guidance, and Science Based Targets Initiative Forest, Land, and Agriculture Guidance.
  • Quantification Approaches:
    Maintain knowledge and relationship with existing quantification approaches and models used in livestock systems (FARM ES, Cool Farm Tool). Experience and/or certification in product carbon footprint (PCF) or life cycle assessments (LCA) is a plus. Monitor and assess updates to key reference / source material and recommend update of tools as appropriate (e.g. IPCC, EPA, USDA, IDF, GRSB, relevant methodologies & industry guidance).
  • Monitoring:
    Leverage carbon program design and methodology knowledge to develop monitoring plans and partner with Elanco UpLook operations team to build requirements and feature roadmaps. Translate complex protocol requirements to operational build and implementation plans.
  • Reporting:
    Build reporting framework to ensure credible report delivery to producers and emission reduction buyers, partnering within the Elanco UpLook operations team to translate and build protocol requirements into operational reporting design features in UpLook. Work with dairy and beef commercial teams to ensure reporting meets producer needs while ensuring contractual and risk management (e.g. no double counting, inappropriate claiming).
