Position: Legislative Internship - Spring 2027
Location: Indianapolis

Hannah Indiana Net (a division of Hannah News Service-Midwest) is offering a unique internship opportunity in the legislative arena. Most legislative internships require full-time, semester long commitments. Hannah Indiana Net will consider interns able to work as few as 10 hours per week up to 40 hours per week. The experience, regardless of hours worked, will last a lifetime and has - for many - served as a foot-in-the-door to a career in government affairs.

The Hannah Internship Experience

Interns with Hannah Indiana Net will learn the legislative process firsthand while covering the meetings where laws and policy are debated at the Indiana Statehouse. Through this work, they’ll gain exposure to debates on a wide range of issues and develop knowledge that’s transferable to careers in government affairs, public policy, law, and beyond.

Hannah Indiana Net has designed this opportunity with input from the most prominent law firms and government affairs professionals in Indiana. These include Bose Public Affairs Group, Ice Miller, Faegre Drinker and The Corydon Group. In addition to helping build the program, these firms have agreed to provide interviews and strong consideration to any successful participant in the Hannah program who applies for a subsequent legislative internship with their firm.

Former Hannah News interns are currently working at the highest levels of public affairs in both the public and private sectors. Four of our interns have been hired by Hannah News as full-time employees.

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • A positive attitude and collaborative spirit
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills
  • Strong listening, writing, and editing skills
  • Desire to acquire knowledge in public policy, government, and/or law

Duration

The internship will take place from January through April of 2027 (exact dates TBD).

Additional Information

  • This internship is paid
  • 100% in-person - interns MUST be able to work in person in downtown Indianapolis
