The Radiologic Technologist (RT) works with Medical Providers and/or Medical Assistants in the examination and treatment of Community-GoHealth Urgent Care patients. This role provides a variety of technical procedures and applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Responsibilities include performing and analyzing patient x-rays and reporting results to Medical Providers. Also provides administrative support to ensure efficient operation of Inova-GoHealth Urgent Care Centers.
The RT collaborates with Medical Providers, Medical Assistants and patients through tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
- High School Diploma required
- Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required
- Experience in a clinical setting preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire (ARC or AHA accepted)
- ARRT registration required at time of hire
- State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required at time of hire (as applicable by state law)
- Responsible for x-ray services as needed
- Under the direction of the clinical provider, perform x-ray services for patients by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment of patients in all age groups
- Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during use
- Assist with patient movement as needed (e.g., wheelchair)
- Inform technical staff of patient flow
- Prepare patients for examination, including interviewing to verify patient information and history; confirm purpose of visit
- Perform preliminary vital signs as needed and escalate critical cases to provider
- Conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide information to the provider
- Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files
- Conduct courtesy follow-up calls with patients
- Operate and document daily controls and calibration of equipment; maintain QA/QC logs; troubleshoot, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets
- Medical Team Support:
Collaborate with providers to determine procedures or views for accurate diagnoses - Patient Care:

Adjust radiologic controls to capture high-quality images - Equipment Maintenance:

Maintain accurate patient records and log procedures - Image Management:
Verify image quality and ensure delivery to radiologists
- Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology for imaging
- Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards
- Position patients properly for X-ray procedures
- Identify and address equipment problems
- Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures
