Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator

The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that our workplace is safe and compliant with all relevant health and safety regulations, internal and external. The candidate will have a background in EHS and a strong desire to learn to support the safety culture.

Duties and Responsibilities included but not limited to:
  • Is safety champion of the facility and supports the development of the EH&S polices and programs. Develops other safety champions to support programs.
  • Understands and keeps abreast of OSHA and other regulatory agencies standards that could impact the organization.
  • Outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform workforce on work safety, environmental safety, accident prevention regulations and procedures while maintaing proper records.
  • Develops health and safety procedures and policies for all areas of the company.
  • Ensures that environmental policy and procedure manuals are available and updated at all times.
  • Conducts surveys, audits, and inspections of facility and employee behaviors for compliance to safety procedures or regulatory requirements.
  • Inspects the facility and identifies safety, health and enviormental risks and reports inspection findings to appropriate departments and leads action to remove or mitigate any risks.
  • Recommend procedures to ensure that employees are held accountable for their safety responsibilities.
  • Ensures that safety data sheets are maintained and readily available to employees when needed.
  • Maintains records for training and incident reporting.
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and handle workers compensation claims.
  • Maintain records and report occupational injuries using regulatory logs (currently OSHA 300 log).
  • Support the development of EHS policies and programs.
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce preventive measures.
  • Oversee proper disposal of used or hazardous materials.
  • Investigate and determine avenues to reduce carbon footprint.
  • Monitor inventory of safety supplies and order according to needs.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree in safety management or 3 years or more of experience.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • OSHA and other regulatory agencies knowledge (OSHA 30 Certificate a plus).
