Job SummaryThis role ensures total operation compliance with state and federal regulations (FDA SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) and maintains the highest production standards. It requires maintaining high customer service, positive donor experience, cleanliness, donor identification and confidentiality, equipment setup, labeling, venipuncture and plasmapheresis, machine operation, donor monitoring, and safety. The candidate will also calibrate machines, document logs, report unsafe conditions, stock supplies, mentor junior phlebotomists, troubleshoot alarms, partner with QA on performance, organize donor flow, and may train as a QA‑Backup or Nex Sys Technician.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (FDA SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
- Maintain high customer service and positive donor experience.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area.
- Review and confirm donor identification and maintain confidentiality.
- Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis.
- Label each unit and sample accurately.
- Execute venipunctures and plasma collection, maintaining quality and safety.
- Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to alarms and alerts, handle donor adverse events, and document exceptions.
- Monitor donor conditions to ensure comfort, safety, and product quality.
- Maintain proper ratio for donor safety and product quality.
- Disconnect donors and dispose of biohazardous waste, clean spills, and follow safety protocols.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly calibration/maintenance of machines.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including machine logs.
- Report unsafe situations and conditions to management.
- Stock adequate inventory and replenish supplies on plasma carts.
- Mentor junior phlebotomists and serve as Designated Trainer.
- Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform routine QC.
- Partner with QA on Donor Floor performance, CAPA implementations, and continuous improvement.
- Assist with storage room organization and FIFO method.
- Oversee donor flow, organize lunch schedules, breaks, and schedule adherence.
- Upon completing initial training, train as QA‑Backup or Nex Sys Technician as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- State‑specific certification or licensing as required.
- Minimum three months of medical or health‑care experience (or equivalent education/experience).
- Completed documentation of training before independent duties.
- Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
- Strong customer‑service skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal protocol.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Accurate and complete documentation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and procedure manuals.
- Function effectively in a fast‑paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Good attendance, punctuality, full effort, and flexibility with schedules.
- Availability for daytime, evening, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts.
- Proficient in venipuncture.
- Effective communication skills.

- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, tug, or pull up to 35 lbs.
- Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
- Use required PPE at all times.
- Occupational exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
- Ability to view video display terminal < 18" away from face for extended periods.
- Ability to work for up to four hours per shift.
- Ability to work in temperatures as low as –40°C for extended periods.
- Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.
- Perform precise tasks with repetitive small motor skills.
- Use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
