Summary
This position is located in the Medical Supply Distribution areas of the Logistics Service within the VA Health Care System at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center. The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that supplies and material are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics.

Time‑In‑Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS‑06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑05. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the federal service.
An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one‑year time‑in‑grade. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF‑50 that clearly demonstrates one‑year time‑in‑grade.

Specialized
Experience:
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑5 level in the federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, typically in or related to the work of this Lead Supply Technician position. Specialized experience includes: distributing supplies and materials (including sterile and non‑sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment) to all areas of the facility;
scanning, bar‑coding, receiving, storing, and distributing supplies and materials; assisting in training new employees; maintaining current knowledge and answering questions on procedures, policies, etc.; maintaining stock by pulling stock, replenishing stock, and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates and rotating stock; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; and receiving supplies and material into the facility. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Applicants pointing this up that there is one year 35‑40 hours per week. Part‑time experience will be credited based on actual time spent in appropriate activities. Volunteer work (including Peace Corps, Ameri Corps, etc.) may be credited.
Physical RequirementsThe work requires standing and walking during the entire workday – frequent bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Regularly pushes loaded carts of medical supplies (weighing in excess of 100+ pounds). With assistance from other workers or weight handling equipment, will move heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. A portion of time is also spent operating ADP Equipment such as bar code scanners, computers, and printers.
