Job Summary:The NGS Specialist will work in the Department of Health Laboratory (Advanced Molecular Detection Division). This role focuses on molecular biology testing, genomic sequencing, and high-complexity laboratory analysis.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform nucleic acid extraction and molecular testing (PCR, MALDI-TOF, NGS)
- Operate and maintain sequencing instruments (Illumina or Pac Bio preferred)
- Develop, validate, and implement new molecular tests
- Analyze, interpret, and report laboratory results
- Perform quality control and maintain lab documentation
- Ensure compliance with CLIA and laboratory safety standards
- Troubleshoot sequencing assays and lab equipment
- BA/BS in Biological Science or related field
- Experience with Next Generation Sequencing (Illumina or Pac Bio)
- Strong knowledge of molecular biology and microbiology
Experience in high-complexity laboratory testing - Knowledge of CLIA regulations
- Good communication and reporting skills
- 2+ years of high-complexity lab experience
- Experience providing oversight of daily lab testing
