Overview

Clinical Technologist, Department of Medical Physics, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Technologist within the Medical Equipment Management Team, to support the delivery of a medical equipment management service for NHS and other customers. The postholder will help provide medical equipment management services to a range of users, supporting the clinical use of a range of highly specialist medical equipment in areas including critical care units, theatres, general wards, and community sites.

This includes fault-finding, repairing breakdowns, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, safety checks, assisting with the investigation of medical equipment related incidents and problem solving in the clinical environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the clinical use of a range of highly specialist medical equipment
  • Travel to and work at various hospitals and clinics in Lothian as required
Qualifications and qualities
  • Qualified to SCQF level 9 in an electronics or medical engineering discipline, or equivalent training and experience
  • Experience of working within an electronic servicing role
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively within a team to ensure day-to-day running of the service
  • Good interpersonal skills with a flexible and methodical approach

The Medical Equipment Management service has a track record of developing staff to enhance career opportunities. You will join an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team providing an equipment management service for a wide range of medical equipment, working across many clinical specialties to support the delivery of high-quality patient care at four acute hospital sites and within the local healthcare community.

NHS Lothian serves a population of approximately 800,000 in a region covering 700 square miles, comprising the City of Edinburgh, Midlothian, East Lothian and West Lothian.
