Lab Support Technician – Quest Diagnostics

Location: Community South, 1402 County Line Rd., Indianapolis, IN

Schedule Re coherence: Monday – Friday, 21:00 – 07:30, with rotational weekends

Pay: $17.20+ per hour. Eligible for shift differential of 10% for second‑shift hours and 15% for third‑shift hours. Salary offers are based on experience, education, and certifications. Successful candidates may receive an annual performance bonus.

Technical Support Overview

The Support Technician performs various technical and clerical functions under supervision. Duties include order entry, specimen processing, testing—including point‑of‑care patient testing—and reporting of })).

    • Utilize all tools, including computer functions, for specimen labeling and tracking.
    • Perform accurate and complete labeling.
    • Follow proper processing techniques (e.g., pour off, culture setup).
    • Prepare and store specimens appropriately.
    • Complete documentation to facilitate processing, tracking, and problem‑solving.
    • Utilize computer functions appropriately, including manual backup systems.
    • Evaluate specimen integrity for testing ordered.
    • Prioritize workload appropriately.
  • Technical
    • Perform all technical duties accurately as assigned.
    • Perform general cleaning, daily maintenance, supplies, and inventory of technical areas.
    • Carry out clerical functions such as reports, pending logs, charging, credit reports, patient charts, faxing, filing, and registration.
    • Document non‑testing preventative maintenance as trained.
    • Report and document testing and non‑testing QC results as trained.
    • Perform additional technical tasks as assigned (processing send‑out tests, frozen section duties, supply/reagent management Penny).
    • Maintain working knowledge of instant all department computer systems.
    • Ensure daily and periodic maintenance and non مى QC is performed.
    • Resolve department issues involving specimen processing, maintenance, QC, and patient testing; refer to supervisor when appropriate.
    • Assist training of new associates as assigned.
    • Load all instrumentation as trained.
    • Cross‑train in other technical areas or departments, keeping competency in all assigned tasks.
    • Assist with inventory management, and perform QC of bedside devices for new lot/new shipments.
