Location: Indianapolis
Pay Rate:$31.14/hr on 1099 (all inclusive)
Position SummaryCoordinate and perform molecular biology analyses, including NGS on Illumina or Pac Bio platforms, for specimens like human/animal tissues, clinical isolates, and environmental samples. Develop/validate new tests, maintain sequencing instruments, troubleshoot assays, and ensure CLIA‑compliant reporting to public health agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Extract nucleic acids using manual/automated methods; perform PCR, MALDI-TOF, NGS, and other molecular techniques.
- Develop, validate, and implement new molecular tests; prepare validation documents and SOPs.
- Provide technical oversight for high‑complexity testing: process specimens, analyze results, report findings, and maintain records.
- Conduct QC checks, instrument calibrations/maintenance, and proficiency testing; identify/fix issues per CLIA standards (42 CFR 493.1495).
- Evaluate/interpret results, compile lab reports, and manage sample tracking/referral systems.
- Ensure lab safety, adhere to state/federal regulations (e.g., CLIA), and collaborate with supervisors/external partners.
- Perform related duties in biothreat lab settings, including handling hazardous materials with PPE.
- BA/BS in biological science, microbiology, molecular biology, or related field.
- Hands‑on NGS experience with Illumina or Pac Bio instruments/platforms.
- Extensive knowledge of molecular biology principles, public health lab methods, lab safety, and CLIA regulations.
- Ability to meet CLIA personnel certification as a technologist.
- Proficiency with technical equipment, automated analysis, and troubleshooting complex assays.
- Experience in test development/validation and SOP writing.
- Strong communication for technical reports and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to work independently in high‑hazard environments (e.g., biohazards, extreme temperatures).
