Job Summary:

Provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies.

Responsibilities:
Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based ondiagnosis. Implements and monitors patient care plan and equipment. Monitors, records and communicates patientcondition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities. Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome. Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.

Responds to emergency resuscitation team code.

Complexity of Work:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Minimum Qualifications Licensure / Certification / Registration:

Required Credential(s): BLS Provider. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee. Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).Preferred Credential(s):
Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted. Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
