Overview

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is responsible for standard and advanced respiratory care procedures for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders, performing examinations and procedures as directed while modeling behaviors aligned with the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

• Perform routine respiratory therapy procedures including IPPB, O2 therapy, and humidity/aerosol therapy.
• Establish and maintain ventilation and airway care for assigned patients and provide ventilatory support during cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
• Perform advanced respiratory care techniques such as invasive pressure monitoring (ICP, pulmonary artery catheters, cardiac output determinations), administration of Nitric Oxide and other gases, and assist physicians with catheter insertions.
• Collect arterial blood gas samples through line draws or punctures.
• Conduct patient assessment and reassessment, gather clinical data, respond to therapy, report findings accurately, and make referrals as needed.
• Provide educational development through guidance and teaching to patients, families, physicians, students, and other hospital staff.
• Maintain respiratory care equipment and instruments, performing preventive and routine maintenance.
• Participate in departmental and hospital continuous improvement initiatives.

• Education: Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care (required);
  Technical Degree or Diploma in Respiratory Care (preferred).
• Experience: No prior work experience preferred; ability to work independently and exercise judgment.

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist – Mississippi (preferred)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certification – American Heart Association (preferred)
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials; communicate verbally with staff; work independently; organize multiple tasks and maintain workflow.
• Physical Demands: Invasive/non‑invasive patient contact; potential exposure to body fluids; quick response to emergencies; moderate lifting up to 50 lbs; requires good visual acuity and balance.
• Supervision: No supervisory responsibilities; may demonstrate duties to others.
