Dietitian / Nutritionist, Health Education & Promotion
Position Overview
Formulate and implement optimal nutrition therapy and evaluate outcomes for assigned patients. Coordinate nutritional care with other disciplines and provide nutrition education to medical and surgical patients with obesity and diabetes. Serve as a role model aligned with the organization’s mission, vision and values.
Responsibilities- Provide the Nutrition Care Process.
- Implement plan of care and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Counsel, educate, and communicate with patients and caregivers appropriately.
- Demonstrate professional development and leadership.
- Conduct performance measurement and quality improvement activities.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition.
- Master’s Degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition preferred.
- 1‑3 years of work experience;
Registered Dietitian required for Dialysis duties.
- Mississippi Dietitian/Nutritionist – Mississippi State Department of Health.
- Tennessee Dietitian/Nutritionist – Tennessee Board of Dietitians/Nutritionist Examiners.
- Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist – Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the Nutrition Care Process and ability to apply all steps.
- Comprehensive knowledge of nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy.
- Critical thinking, decision making, problem solving and collaboration skills.
- Effective communication in both written and verbal formats for patients, caregivers, hospital staff and physicians.
- Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.
- Ability to counsel and educate others.
- General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing and spreadsheet software.
The role may include climbing, pushing, standing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. The associate may exert up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. Close visual acuity is required for data analysis, transcribing and computer use. Tasks are performed under general office or administrative conditions with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

The associate works in a general office or clinical setting, collaborating with healthcare teams and patients within the organization.
