WNSC is looking to add an SLPA to our team! Under the general direction and supervision of a licensed/certified Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP), the Speech‑Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) assists in supplementing, enhancing, and extending speech and language therapy services. The SLPA works directly with students to implement documented Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, prepares therapeutic materials, and maintains student progress records.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct Student Support: Provide direct speech and language therapy services to individual students or small groups in accordance with treatment plans and IEP goals developed by the supervising SLP.
  • Instructional Delivery: Implement positive behavior management strategies and utilize specialized cues, prompts, and behavioral reinforcements aligned with each student’s developmental age and clinical needs.
  • Screening & Assistance: Assist the supervising SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings (without interpretation of results) using prescribed clinical tools and protocols.
  • Documentation & Data Collection: Accurately collect, tally, and record student performance data during sessions to track progress. Maintain up-to-date therapy logs, attendance, and Medicaid billing data (if applicable) under SLP oversight.
  • Materials & Assistive Technology: Design, adapt, and prepare creative, age‑appropriate instructional materials (e.g., worksheets, picture cards). Support students in learning and utilizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Maintain ongoing communication with the supervising SLP regarding student progress, behavioral patterns, or any required adjustments to therapy materials.
  • Administrative Support: Perform clerical tasks such as scheduling, filing, organizing student records, and maintaining clean, safe therapy areas and equipment.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Associate’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology Assisting (or a related field) from an accredited institution, or Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences.
  • Licensure/Certification: Active licensure or certification as a Speech‑Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) in the state of Indiana.
  • Must have 100 hour supervision certificate
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) to work effectively with students, school staff, and families.
  • Demonstrated understanding and patient, empathetic attitude toward children with diverse special education needs.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions, follow protocols, and stay strictly within the SLPA scope of practice (e.g., performing services only under direct SLP supervision).
  • High level of organizational skill and attention to detail for documentation and recordkeeping.
  • Familiarity with standard classroom technologies, IEP software, and AAC systems is a plus.
