Pay Rate: Starting at $29.84/hour plus shift differential
Employment Type: Direct Hire / Permanent Placement
Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday. 3:00 PM start time with rotating weekend coverage. Approximately 6 months of training on day shift. On-call rotation required, including holiday coverage.
Why This Role Matters
As a Laboratory Scientist within the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory, you'll play a critical role in resolving complex serologic cases and ensuring patients receive the safest and most appropriate blood products for transfusion. Your expertise will directly support healthcare providers and improve patient outcomes through advanced laboratory testing and consultation.
What You'll Do- Perform advanced serologic and molecular testing on clinical, quality control, research, and study specimens
- Interpret laboratory results and resolve testing discrepancies accurately and efficiently
- Process and handle specimens while ensuring proper identification and documentation
- Operate laboratory instrumentation, perform quality control testing, and maintain equipment performance
- Review and release laboratory results in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards
- Support implementation and validation of new laboratory tests and equipment
- Assist with training and competency assessment of laboratory personnel and students
- Participate in on-call coverage and provide exceptional customer support to internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain compliance with FDA, AABB, CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and cGMP requirements
- Participate in quality improvement and process enhancement initiatives
- A current, up-to-date resume
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline required
- MLS, CLS, MT, or BB certification through ASCP or equivalent required
- Alternatively, an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with MLT certification and 4-6 years of Immunohematology Reference Laboratory experience
- 1-3 years of experience in an Immunohematology Reference Laboratory or transfusion service preferred
- Working knowledge of immunohematology and immunology principles
- Experience operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation in a clinical laboratory setting
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to maintain accurate patient records and laboratory documentation
- Ability to meet compliance requirements
