Lutheran Hospital is seeking an Ortho Tech for a travel position. The role involves working in cardiovascular surgery with a 13-week duration, starting on 08/17/2026 and ending on 11/16/2026. The shift is from 06:30 to 17:00, with four 10-hour shifts per week, including holidays and call, with an option for block scheduling. The bill rate is $110 per hour.

Required certifications include BLS, First Assist certification, along with one of the following CST certifications or an RN license. If CST certification is not available, evidence of employment as a surgical technologist before July 1, 2009, or possession of the Certified Surgical Assistant cert is required.

The scope of the role involves acting as the primary surgical assistant during cardiovascular surgeries, assisting with tasks such as tissue handling, exposure, hemostasis, and closure of the incision, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the surgeon’s needs. The candidate must also be able to cannulate for bypass and assist in room turnover to ensure the smooth flow of surgical cases.

Two years of experience are required, and the candidate must be able to suture as directed by the surgeons and possess strong cardiac skills. Candidates who were surgeons or physicians in another country will not be accepted.

Lutheran Hospital provides hospital-issued scrubs and uses Cerner as the EMR system. Travelers must be greater than 50 miles from the facility and must attach required licenses and certifications or will be rejected. Local candidates are not accepted.
