Job Description:
We are seeking a Microbiologist to coordinate and perform wastewater testing for SARS-CoV-2 and other public health targets. Responsibilities include sample preparation, RNA extraction, PCR testing, data interpretation, and reporting. The role also covers quality control, safety compliance, inventory management, and contributing to reports and method evaluations. On-site, Monday Friday with standard daytime hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct wastewater sample concentration, RNA extraction, and PCR testing
- Maintain and review lab records, interpret results, and prepare reports
- Manage inventory and perform quality control checks on methods and equipment
- Support evaluation of new products and methods for environmental lab work
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Science
- Experience with RNA extraction and qPCR testing
- Strong knowledge of molecular testing principles, methods, and equipment
- Ability to analyze data, compile reports, and maintain accurate records
- Understanding of laboratory safety practices and relevant regulations
- Effective written and verbal communication skills; able to participate in proficiency testing
Nice-to-Have:
- Prior experience in molecular diagnostics or environmental microbiology
- Familiarity with wastewater surveillance concepts and public health testing
